Silent Running

Silent running in torrential waters Diving deep to darkness' depths. Driving hard, the ship it shutters Then silently falls in stealthy steps. Far above, the storm it rages Back and forth, the fear of ages. Yet deep below, lost to light In peaceful bliss far from sight. Jan ‘05

sheltered

i live in a perfect space. i see what i want  and idealism embrace. a sheltered life  gives thoughts their wings. reality damned! thoughts can sing. the face of man  i mold to my dreams my vision’s span endless, it seems. why live with the real when dreams are so pure? why suffer to feel  when my mind’s the cure? 7/1/06

The Shell

My vehicle is small. It's weak.  I built it  Myself. From pieces of the past, Designed by pure reason. It's slow, this vehicle of mine.  It shudders as      others Pass. But it holds. I patch it by the present turned Past. It takes any road, any river. It eeks its path out slowly. But it will arrive 3/14/83

Shadows

The shadow is made by you and light. Where the light can't go, what's left to sight Is the darkened shadow that we all hide. It can't live in the light.  It cannot abide, So it waits for the moment that it consumes The light that surrounds like unwelcome tombs. So where is the life, In the dark or the light? If the shadow will swallow The light that surrounds It's not the hollow  That makes us sound. The matter we are that blocks out the light The very thing we hide from sight, Is who we must be  To set our souls free. 9/98

Sapphires

Ancient Fire by hands is touched. Love created by God is judged. Give the rainbow perfect hue. Beauty born and bathed in blue. Peace serene, a giving heart. Gem’s reflecting nature’s art. Beauty born and blessed by God. Loving all, never flawed. Heavenly skies. Sea-like eyes. All embraced in sapphires’ guise. 10/26/00

I noticed the fine crispness in the air. As my shoes clicked on the walk, I wanted to shout For the day so fine and life so fair. As habit would have it Work was a drag.  The monotony I I'd chosen had taken its toll.  goddamit! Why did it have to happen so soon to me? I felt forty at twenty and knew I was right. I'd decided to be content too early in life, Content with failure, nihilism, existentialism, fatalism.  I couldn't fight. I'd forged a double edged knife. Well, I thought I was happy.  But today This omnipotent knife showed its other edge. My zeal for safety, my knowledge of self worth, began to say That I was old, boring, young and useless.  My pledge  To be apathetic and resigned in my immense fallability Was in itself more fucked than my general lack of ability. Random Ruminations

Seven more measured moons- Then at its fullest find festoons In driest desert's daring dunes- And read the written runes. In the secrets there by sacred sight- Obscured from living light And made monstrous by Morpheus' might- Find strength from fear, and fight. For self, for heart, for thought and soul The truth inside, whether hard or cold, Only that can be called your own. It's the child of what you've known. 6/26/2009
