the misanthrope
In yesterdays past the faults did flow
Lost in thoughts, selflessness’ foe.
While you in bliss of hopeful vision
Pulled me from my thought filled prison.
With passion you embraced the world,
Its many gifts with pleasure pearled.
You touched in wonder and loved in awe,
With a child’s eye the truth you saw.
So lost was I, my vision skewed,
I missed the chance for hope renewed.
I belittled your love and soiled your hope
You deserved more than this wretched misanthrope.
