The Garden
The garden I found overwhelmed me.
Its beauty enraptured me.
Its purity awed me.
The attention due such perfection
must be equally perfect.
I vowed to care for it.
I promised to enrich it.
I weeded, watered, and watched.
I plowed, planted, and protected.
But the purity of my desire was wasted.
The garden had been Graced with perfect care before I saw it.
But in my innocence, I was blind and arrogant.
