I read
I read another story today
about a dog gone astray
from his master. He'd somehow
been left behind on some town
on the opposite coast. Well,
sure enough he followed the trail
back to his "loving" master
Who'd now seen an end to this awful disaster.
I thought of why a mutt
might go from Oregon to Conneticut
Simply because of so primitive
a desire of being loved to live.
For if love be the animal's comfort,
And without a fear this need he'll assert,
Why does man insist love is superfluous
When he'd much rather yield to emotional urges?
