a day at the Ocean
The sunrise brushes against me.
Auburn rays weave through the clouds,
Wrapping me in their beauty.
I kneel in prayerful awe at the rolling beauty before me.
The tide rolls in. I’m drawn into it as silken alabaster waves
Gently fold into sweet swirls.
Its depths bring me solace,
But what can I return?
Against the ocean I am barely perceptible
but entirely enveloped.
Hoping to join its past and its future, I delve deeper,
Hoping only that it might experience the slightest reflection of its beauty.
But true grace and modesty cannot see themselves.
My best effort would fail.
As I lay on the shore, the ocean stretches gracefully
alongside me. Draped tenderly across me, as far as I can see, its beauty
Again awes me, and I am speechless, as the sunset’s auburn
Rays dance, then rest against my face. And I sleep, peacefully.
